Roof collapse at Delhi airport kills taxi driver

Unfortunately, one person died at the scene of the tragedy – a taxi driver- after the roof of Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 DIA gave in following heavy rains on Saturday night. The event was very sad and has taken a toll on the family of the deed’s recipient.

The deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Ramesh Kumar, who resided in Vijay Vihar, Rohini, Delhi, he was the bread earner for his two sons and two daughters. Thus, Ramesh was rescued from the car where an iron beam fell on him, but he was certified dead upon his arrival at the Medanta Hospital close to the terminal.

Ravindra asserted himself as Ramesh’s son and stated how the family would survive without the father figure, especially with the upcoming weddings of his sisters. Some years later, Okocha narrated how he received a call at 8. 30 a.m. informing him that his father had fainted at the airport and had been taken to the hospital, though he was not told that the tragedy had occurred.

Despite this, the family’s suffering did not stop in the said year. From the narration of Ravindra, the police detained them till 4 pm before taking Pradeep and them to the hospital and never informed them that Ramesh was dead. We waited for 2 to 3 hours, then the police said some offers needed to be made, then asked us to come the next day to pick up the body after the post mortem, he said.

The downpour that began at about 3 am on Saturday submerged terminal one of the airport teeming with passengers. Again, at 5 in the morning, part of the roof used to cover the departure area came crashing down and held several people. Some of the clips that have seemed to go viral include those that depict water infiltration on the shed and contraction cracking and leakage seen on the infrastructure.

Family, now they are asking for a judicial probe into the incident and also bearing more money from the government to share the loss in coping with the tragedy, and wedding functions are also to be conducted soon.
