Saif Ali Khan is recuperating from a serious knife attack that took place at his Bandra residence last night. According to a doctor at Lilavati Hospital, the actor suffered a spinal fluid leak after shards from the attacker’s knife lodged into his spine during the confrontation.
According to Dr. Nitin Dange, Khan was admitted around 2 a.m. with deep injuries to the thoracic region of the spinal cord. Thoracic spine refers to the region running from the bottom of the neck down to the bottom of the ribs.
The surgical interventions included removal of the knife and repair of the leaking spinal fluid, besides plastic surgeries for deep wounds on his left hand and neck. Confirming this, Dr Dange said, “He is completely stable now, recovering well and is out of danger.”
Earlier reports mentioned Khan received six stab injuries. Another doctor also sounded hopeful about the recovery: “The recovery should be 100 percent as per our understanding.”
Though the attacker fled the scene, it was Khan’s elder son, Ibrahim, who helped his father reach the hospital, traveling some 2 kilometers in an auto-rickshaw as a car was not available.
According to the police, the suspect has been identified. “Ten teams have been formed to arrest him. Preliminary investigations indicate he entered Khan’s house to commit theft. Further details cannot be shared as of now till the time accused is arrested,” said a senior police officer.
