Saif Ali Khan stabbed in burglary attempt, now recovering

In a shocking incident, actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times during a burglary attempt at his Bandra residence on Wednesday night and Thursday early morning. According to reports, among the stab wounds, two are deep and one injury is near the spine, confirmed Dr. Niraj Uttamani from Lilavati Hospital. The actor, who underwent a surgery by a team of doctors, is presently reported to be out of danger.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an intruder entered Khan’s house at Satguru Sharan building when he was sleeping. A scuffle ensued, following which the actor was attacked before the assailant fled. Police are seriously examining the CCTV footage of the area, and several teams have been sent out in different parts of Mumbai to trace the attacker.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described the attack as “unfortunate” but persisted that it would be incorrect to say that Mumbai was not safe. He said that Mumbai was among the safer mega cities in India and asked the people not to worry as police were taking the matter quite seriously.

Saif Ali Khan resides in one of the costliest localities in Bandra. His house, purchased in 2013 for Rs 48 crore, is spread over four floors with luxurious facilities like a swimming pool and an exclusive terrace.

With the investigations still ongoing, police have identified a suspect who reportedly gained access to the property via a fire escape. It is suspected that one of Khan’s household staff may have known the attacker, raising further inquiries into the incident.

The son of Khan, Ibrahim, played an important role in his injured father’s transportation to the hospital as they rushed to Lilavati Hospital in an auto-rickshaw after failing to find an available car. A video shot moments after the attack shows Khan’s wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, attending to the situation.

The attack has sparked off political debate on the issue of security in Mumbai, with demands for greater police deployment in the area. Opposition leaders have said that incidents of this nature have serious implications for the overall security scenario in the city.

Following the attack, the Mumbai Police have formed several teams to investigate the incident thoroughly, including interrogating staff members at Khan’s residence. The police are also using sniffer dogs to aid in the search for the attacker.

As Saif Ali Khan recuperates, his family is safe, and apprehension of the intruder responsible for this brazen attack remains in the spotlight.
