Sakshi Malik alleges sexual harassment attempt in 2012

Sakshi Malik gives details of past abuse by a teacher and alleges sexual harassment by WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in her autobiography.

Olympic bronze medallist Sakshi Malik has made explosive allegations against former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. In her recently released autobiography “Witness,” the wrestler accused Singh of trying to harass her in 2012 sexually.

In her novel, Malik states that when Singh, another international cricketer, called her for a telephone conversation ahead of the Asian Junior Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to speak with her parents, he called her to his hotel room.

However, she alleges that once she had ended her call, Singh attempted to molest her, and she pushed him away, tears streaming down her face, running out of the room.

“Singh connected me to my parents. It sounded harmless. So when I spoke to them, informing them of my match and medal, I was almost under the impression that nothing unsavory would come of it after all.

But just when I got off the call, he tried to molest me as I sat on his bed. I pushed him away and began to cry,” she wrote in the book, according to the Times of India excerpts.

She claimed she kept quiet for so many years because Brij Bhushan was a powerful man, and she feared that he could end her career.

Childhood Trauma Malik shares another shocking revelation of an experience from her childhood, where she was touched inappropriately by a tuition teacher. She kept quiet and repressed the abuse because she feared the blame would be put on her, and later shared the ordeal with her mother.

“I have been molested in childhood too, but for a long time, I could not narrate it to my family as I thought it was my fault. My tuition teacher used to harass me.

He would call me over to his place for classes at odd times and sometimes trtryo touch me. I was scared to attend my tuition classes but could never tell my mom. This continued for a long time, and I kept quiet about it,” she wrote in the book. Malik later conveyed this incident to her mother.
