Severe heatwave scorches north India, IMD Issues ‘Red’ alert

The IMD has predicted aired’ alarm of heat-wave conditions for Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab, and Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday, May 29.

Heat wave conditions still persist in some regions of the country, with the IMD warning six states, including Rajasthan, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Madhya Pradesh, to remain on ‘Red’ alert tomorrow on Wednesday. According to the IMD, Delhi would experience a maximum temperature of about 46 degrees.

Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Orissa states are very likely to experience heat wave to severe heat wave conditions in many or most parts of the region or isolated areas in other states on May 27 to 29, gradually reducing on May 30 and May 31, the IMD added in

As per the weather department, maximum heat remains very probable in isolated areas of eastern MP, Vidarbha, and Jammu divisions up to May 29 and in some regions of Himachal Pradesh, Eastern UT of Mumbai, and Chhattisgarh up to May 30.

Earlier on Tuesday, the hottest place in the country was Churu in Rajasthan, whose temperature was recorded at 50.5 degrees Celsius.
