Allegations of sexual assaults involving JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna have rattled the Hassan district of Karnataka, evoking a sense of fear among numerous women who have chosen to leave their homes, as per a report by Indian Express.
The accusations against Prajwal, who happens to be the grandson of HD Deve Gowda, have emerged at a critical juncture, coinciding with his re-election campaign as the incumbent MP from Hassan.
The situation took a distressing turn when Prajwal’s father, HD Revanna, was apprehended in connection with the alleged abduction of a woman. Shockingly, the woman was purportedly prevented from approaching the Special Investigation Team (SIT) responsible for probing the allegations.
As disclosed in the report, district residents are grappling with a sense of trepidation, fearing potential repercussions should they voice their concerns against the influential family. The first complaint against Prajwal was filed on April 28 by a woman employed as a domestic worker at Revanna’s residence. Since then, multiple families have reportedly vacated the area due to concerns over their safety.
The distressing ordeal has taken a toll on numerous women associated with the JD(S), with reports emerging of them deleting social media posts featuring Prajwal and facing scrutiny from their own families. The situation has worsened with the release of video clips that expose the identities of these women, prompting more families to flee the district, as per the report.
As investigations persist, the district remains engulfed in turmoil, raising questions about other potential individuals who might be implicated in this scandal.
