NCP chief Sharad Pawar met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, which was seen as an important meeting coming weeks after the MVA suffered a thumping defeat in the recently held assembly elections. MahaYuti, a coalition led by BJP, won, and the shift of political wind seemed quite evident.
At the meeting held in the Prime Minister’s office in Parliament, Pawar was accompanied by two farmers from Phaltan in western Maharashtra. He handed the Prime Minister a box of pomegranates sourced from their farm as a symbol of regional agriculture.
Recently, Pawar invited Modi to inaugurate the 98th Marathi Sahitya Sammelan scheduled to be held at Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi next month. However, he clarified that the subject of the literary meet was not discussed during the meeting.
For them, the MVA alliance-comprised of Congress, NCP, and Shiv Sena UBT-never managed anything more than 46 out of the total 288 seats, while their opponents in the MahaYuti BJP-Shiv Sena had a strong number of 235 seats. This would go to signify a change that was absolute in Maharashtra politics.
