In a tragic incident, a young man of 24 years, who is the son of a central committee member of Shiv Sena, was driving a speedy BMW car and knocked down a scooter rider in Worli, Mumbai, leading to the death of a lady.
As per local police of taluka, the accused person, Mihir Shah, son of Rajesh Shah, the deputy leader of Shiv Sena in Palghar district, is currently absconding. The police are likely that Mihir was drunk at the time of the accident, and his/her blood test report is still pending.
The car that was involved in the accident belonged to Mihir, and the police uncovered that the Sena leader’s son and their driver were inside the car at the time of the accident. The couple affected in the incident were Kaveri Nakva, a fish seller, and her husband, Pradik Nakva. Kaveri was instantly killed, and as for Pradik, he only sustained injuries on his body.
Their efforts to obliterate evidence have been observed, such as scratching a Shiv Senoick sticker on the windshield and missing one of the number plates. Rajesh Shah and his driver were arrested because the police claimed that they were uncooperative.
The current Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, also the President of Shiv Sena, has labeled the incident unfortunate and confirmed that the law will prevail.
This happened a few months after another drink-driving tragedy that occurred in Pune, which emphasizes increasing the severity of punishments and ensuring justice.
