In a disturbing incident, a chilling video has surfaced from Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, depicting a brutal assault on a couple by a man. The video has gone viral, triggering widespread outrage and a political blame game.
The footage shows a man mercilessly beating a woman with sticks as she screams in pain while a crowd watches in silence. The man then turns his attention to the woman’s companion, beating him relentlessly.
According to reports, the incident occurred following a decision by a ‘Salishi Sabha’ (Kangaroo court) after the couple was accused of engaging in an illicit relationship. The accused, Tajemul, is allegedly a close associate of Chopra MLA Hamidul Rahaman.
The opposition BJP and CPM have lashed out at the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government, accusing it of failing to maintain law and order. BJP IT Cell Head Amit Malviya described the video as the “ugly face of Mamata Banerjee’s rule,” while Union Minister JP Nadda called it “horrific.”
The TMC, however, has denied any party involvement, and the state government has registered a case and arrested the accused. The incident has once again raised concerns about human rights and the rule of law in West Bengal, with calls for swift and decisive action.
