Shocking murder case unfolds in Madhya Pradesh

In a shocking incident that emerged from Dewas in Madhya Pradesh, a married man was accused of killing a woman who was pressuring him for marriage. The decomposed body of the woman was found on Friday, hidden in a refrigerator at a house that the suspect, Sanjay Patidar, had rented.

The deceased was identified as Pinky Prajapati, who was found draped in a saree and fully decked out in jewels. The police claimed she was killed in June 2024; a foul smell from her decomposed body had made neighbors notify the landlord, who then opened a portion of his house to find her body.

According to Dewas Superintendent of Police Puneet Gehlot, Patidar, a resident of Ujjain, had been in a live-in relationship with Prajapati for the past five years. As reports suggest, her insistence on marriage may have led to this tragic outcome. The investigation suggests that Patidar may have received assistance from a friend in carrying out the crime.

The house was let out by its owner, Dhirendra Shrivastava, to Patidar in June 2023. The latter vacated the premises in June this year, leaving his belongings in one study room and the master bedroom, saying that he would return to collect them. Now, a fresh tenant approached the owner seeking this portion, so Shrivastava opened it.

The sinister revelation came to light when the refrigerator did not work after the power supply was snapped, giving way to the foul smell that alerted the landlord.

This incident draws an eerie similarity with the Shraddha Walkar murder case in Delhi, in which Aaftab Amin Poonawala allegedly strangled his live-in partner and chopped her body into pieces, storing the remains in a refrigerator before disposing of them across the city.

As investigations continue, the community is trying to digest the horrors of this case, which reflects deeper issues about domestic relationships and unresolved conflicts.
