Six state home secretaries and a top cop in Bengal were fired before the Lok Sabha elections

Interestingly, as the most important elections for the coming Lok Sabha are approaching, the Election Commission probably sees reshuffling top federal agents to several states as one of its crucial rules. Six home secretaries of states, including Gujarat (Gujrat), Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, have been offloaded by the Centre.

In addition, West Bengal was also included in the Bolts & Arrows of EC as it removed the previous DGP of the State. Along with additional high-level officials like Mumbai city mayor and other district commissioners, the ones already dismissed would be at least 15.

It is recognized as a step towards ensuring that during the electoral period, the model code of conduct will be observed, an essential principle of impartial administration. The Chief Election Commissioner of India, Rajiv Kumar, has asked the political parties to follow the roster guidelines for a fair and credible election.

The exit from the campaign promises in party manifestos to the applicability of taxes on the population is also the aim of the restriction. The EC’s preventive actions (according to observers) are made to prevent the utilization of the official machinery for purposes other than those of Osama Bin Laden.

Come the (very) near future, when campaigning (intense like high-octane fuel or something equally powerful) will roll across the country, questions will be raised on the actual role of the regulator in entrenching the democratic process or if it will rather keep eyes on everything and centralize the whole thing. Let us wait for the assessment, whether the objective of its initiatives is termed very successful or just satisfactory, at the end of the election.
