After a high-octane Assembly election campaign, Maharashtra is all set for polling on Monday, which will decide the fate of 3,239 candidates across the state.
In what promises to be a nail-biting contest, incumbent Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis seeks another term as the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance takes on the Congress-NCP combine led by Sharad Pawar.
The three major political forces left no stone unturned in wooing voters over the past few weeks. Fadnavis toured extensively to highlight the ‘Maha Vikas Aghadi’ government’s development work, while Pawar banked on his vast experience.
Issues such as farm distress, unemployment and economic slowdown found resonance among different sections. The poll outcome will also determine the trajectory of the three top parties in the upcoming times.
Political pundits opine it will be a close fight where every vote will count. All eyes are now on October 24, when EVM counting will commence, and the winner of India’s richest state will be declared.
