Supreme Court rebukes IMA President’s comments, contempt proceedings continue

The High Court severely admonished the Indian Medical Association(IMA) President for remarks attributed to him against the courts in their criticism of private doctors’ practice. The duet of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah showed obvious disdain for their way of judicial dealings as the trial progressed. 

The question is whether the clients have a right, and in this case, the one representing Patanjali Ayurved brought the matter to the Supreme Court’s attention.

“The IMA’s TV interview of Mr Asokan while glaring from the witness stand was one of the most important events in the courtroom. As the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) provides the organization with contempt upon the IMA (Indian Management Program), Patanjali Ayurved, Baba Ramdev, and Acharya Balkrishna are filed to proceed through the case. 

The Court accepted the second Putli of apologies launched by Patanjali Ramdev and Balkrishna in over 300 newspapers nationwide. But they were asked for the raw Herald newspaper pages featuring the retractions in their place.

IMA had accused Patanjali of disrespecting the Supreme Court and allopathic medicine. In the last hearing, the Court stated its readiness to look into the issue of stifled medical bills and the drug companies that are unlawfully giving samples of expensive medicine brands to doctors.

Mr. Rohatgi delivered his arguments pointing to Asokan’s remarks in the media, to which he replied by saying he was disappointed with the constructive criticism rendered by the Court to IMA. In this context, He said

That these non-personalized statements negatively eroded private doctors’ goodwill. Mr. Rohatgi on behalf of Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkishna, plead exemption from personal appearance for an appointment after this judiciary hearing.
