Police have identified the driver as Javier, a resident of Mathura. They have contacted him and called him in Jaipur to ask questions. Jaipur: A big vehicle carrying Liquid Petroleum gas ignited the fire, which resulted in the tragedy along the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway. The driver, who happened to be one of a few people to leave alive in the massive tragedy, came out unscathed from the inferno.
Sources said police officers have identified and contacted him in Jaipur for questioning purposes. Source Officer Manish Kumar said that, while Jaiveer fell off the truck after this tiff, he took off running towards Jaipur, where he was out of this danger zone before gas leaked from the tanker tank, leading to a devastating big blast that killed 14 people and injured 23 others.
The police officer said the tanker’s driver called the owner after the accident and informed him about the crash. Police hope to get more details once they question the driver.
Around 5.30 am, the LPG tanker had taken a U-turn on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway. According to officials, this U-turn was temporary to ease traffic amid construction activity near the highway.
While the tanker was taking the U-turn, a truck carrying bedsheets and coming from the opposite direction collided with the tanker. The nozzles and safety valves on the tanker broke due to the impact, and gas started leaking.
Soon after, a massive blast took place. Passengers of vehicles caught in the blaze did not get time to escape. Fourteen people have died, and 23 others are recovering in hospital. Many of the bodies are charred and cannot be identified.
