“The incident that saddened me was the death of people who had consumed adulterated liquor in Kallakurichi.”

He stated that those malicious individuals have been apprehended, moreover, specific punitive measures have been taken concerning local officials who did not adequately respond to such an occurrence. The CM underlined that the government will only hinder crimes that “derail the society.”

The present Tamil Nadu BJP president, K Annamalai, also accused the state government of failing to protect residents and fired at the chief minister for not visiting the area.

The government has not been complacent and has moved quickly to develop viable solutions. Four people have been taken into custody, and one individual has been set up to oversee the commission to investigate the incident.

Speaking at the CM’s press briefing on the issue, he also stated that the government was working to devise a relief package for the families that have been affected and for the people who are being treated for this disease.

The Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly condoled the victims of the tragedy, and the Speaker said that they were shocked by the incident and the government’s policy to protect the Dalits. This incident has raised concern about the fact that appropriate measures should be taken to reduce cases of selling substandard liquor in the state.
