Telangana floods: 2 women die in wall collapse amid heavy rains

Kothapalli in Telangana’s Narayanpet district witnessed a wall collapse that led to the deaths of two women, while many areas of the state received heavy rains.

It is scanned that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Sunday (September 1) called ministers, officials, and elected members and instructed them to initiate the relief actions in areas affected by the floods.

Overnight break in the permission to rain flooded city and tree fall cases were reported in state capital Hyderabad. That is why the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has put the city under an ‘orange’ warning and has predicted that rainfall will continue till late in the night.

However, fearing for the safety of the children, due to the expected heavy rains on Monday (September 2), the administration of the district decided to close all schools in the Hyderabad district.

Six trains were cancelled and nine trains were rerouted due to heavy rainfall and waterlogged S Central Railway.

The Telangana Chief Minister, A. Revanth Reddy, ordered an emergency review meeting and to establish the control rooms in districts that are badly hit, like Suryapet, Khammam, Mahbubabad, and Warangal. He directed the authorities to shift to relief operations in the flood-affected regions.

He informed the ministers such as Bhatti Vikramarka, N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Damodara Raja Narasimha, and Jupalli Krishna Rao over the phone and asked about the rescue operations taken up in the flooded regions.

Party chief minister called upon people not to go out of their homes if it could be helped or be necessary. It directed people living in the flood-prone areas, especially those in the coastal areas, to be more cautious and prompt the authorities in case of any eventuality or help required.

He advised ministers, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs to not leave their areas and join relief operations. A control room has been opened at the state secretariat to tackle the cases of heavy raining in the state.
