Thief prays before stealing ₹1.57 lakh from Madhya Pradesh petrol pump

In a strange turn of events, a thief offered prayers to a deity before decamping with a large amount of cash from a petrol pump in Machalpur district, Madhya Pradesh. The incident occurred on Saturday night and has left the locals and police stunned.

The CCTV footage at the petrol pump shows the thief in a blue jacket entering the office. As he saw a small shrine, he went forward and bowed to the deity for blessings before continuing his illicit act.

After having said a short prayer, he searched for money in drawers. Within minutes, he spotted the CCTV camera and tried to destroy or change its view, but he did not succeed, as he continued to be unaware that the video recording was still on.

According to the police, the thief decamped with ₹1,57,000 in the night heist. Petrol pump employees were sleeping in the open area of the petrol pump along the Soyat Kalan-Sujalpur highway, when the robbery took place.

According to officials, in the morning, when the employees woke up and found out that the petrol had been stolen, they chased the thief but could not catch him. The unusual incident sparked discussions about security measures at local petrol pumps and audacity of crime.
