Thousands lose marks in NEET exam Physics question debacle

A student had raised an issue that

“Question No. 29”

among the Physics question had two right answers, while the structure of the questionnaire required only one answer.

New Delhi:

Around four lakh students who appeared for the NEET-UG exam will lose four marks now that the Supreme Court concluded that only one out of four answer options is correct.

According to the student, there was an issue in the multiple-choice section of the Physics part, where “Question No. 29” had two possible correct answers while it should have only one.

The examinees who will be affected by the four marks include 44 who scored 720/720.

The above Supreme Court order was handed after the three-member IIT committee comprising of experts from IIT in Delhi delivered a detailed report that put to shut the question concerning the term

“atoms”

and their qualities.

The apex court has closed a tussle over a question in the NEET-UG Physics part regarding atoms.

New Delhi:

Today’s Supreme order for only one of the four choices to be correct for the NEET-UG exam will deprive over four lakh students of the four marks they attempted in the exam.

Student 1 had objected that according to the rules that were previously explained, there should be only one correct answer to a question, and yet “Question No. 29” of the Physics section had two correct answers.

Another 44 students who sat for the test and got a perfect score of 720/720 will be among the students who lost four marks.

The order soon followed the report of three specialists in engineering from the IIT in Delhi, with the issue concerning the ‘atoms’ being cleared and their qualities.

This is an issue that the petitioner raised during the hearing that was conducted on Monday and demonstrated that there was a discrepancy (two right answers).
