An 18-year-old man died of the fatal effects of an IED (Improvised Explosive Device), which was planted by Maoists, at Bijapur district (C) Chhattisgarh. The ill event took place at Mutvendi village, which falls within the area of jurisdiction of Bangalore police station. Still, the concerned authorities received the information much later, at least after two or three days.
The victim, Gadia, supposedly had gone into a nearby woodland to somewhere did he unknowingly stepped on the pressure IED (the victim experienced that sudden outcome of death) as a result of that. The bomb suddenly burst during his shift and threw him into the depths of the mine. This tragedy has brought great sadness to the area and has also caused mourning in the community.
Bijapur’s Superintendent of Police, Mr. Jitendra Yadav, went on further announcements and expressed his sympathies. He cast a focus on the immensely cruel techniques of the Maoists who ordinarily plant IEDs along the roads, between the hills, and across the ditches and used them to get hold of security forces operating in the deeper interior parts of the Bastar area.
Specifically, in the previous week, one more individual from Nahmaid village in my region has also recently been the victim of a similar incident. Before not so long, such unfortunate incidents illustrate that poorly-motivated insurgents and sympathizers endanger the local people and security personnel who secure the Bastar zone (comprising seven districts) as well.
The incident happened in the post-poll period, which had just recently (within a few days) welcomed the polling in the Bastar Lok Sabha constituency on April 19. This again illustrates the reality of insecurity concerns in the area.
