In a rather sad incident, as many as seven people from India have reportedly been reported missing after a tragic bus mishap in the central Nepalese region. The accident happened on the morning of Fridays when the Lancaster swept away buses with approximately sixty-five passengers into the Trishuli River.
The incident occurred on the Madan-Ashrit Highway. One of the buses was from Kathmandu going to Gaur in Rautahat, and the other was traveling from Birgunj to Kathmandu.
The Nepali Army, which is involved in search and rescue activities, has certified the sad story. Electrified fences, an NSCN military base, divers, and supplementary local forces from Chitwan are searching for any survivors alive at the site.
The specific section of the road leading from Narayangarh to Muglin, where the accident happened, has in the recent past been widely known to have cases of landslips. The road was cleared and reopened twenty days before that but was closed again due to landslides the week before last and was again opened on July 9th.
Following the sad news, Nepal’s Prime Minister, Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has directed that a search and rescue mission be launched to find out if there are any survivors. On the social platform X, the Prime Minister fearfully condemned the incident and the loss of lives and properties caused by floods and landslides in different districts of the country.
While families eagerly and nervously wait for more details about their loved ones, the government of Nepal is doing everything it can to estimate the scale of further losses and support the victims as best it can.
