
On Wednesday, at least nine Indian nationals were killed in a road accident. The accident happened near Jizan, in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. The Indian Consulate in Jeddah has confirmed the incident and expressed condolences.
After the incident took place, the consulate issued a public statement. It assured full support to the affected families.
The Indian mission in Jeddah further confirmed that it is in touch with the local authorities in Jizan and the victims’ relatives. A dedicated helpline has also been established.
The consulate offered its deepest condolences in a post on X. It continued, “Deeply mourning the tragic loss of 9 Indian nationals in a road accident near Jizan, in the Western Region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. My deepest condolence to all affected families.
The Consulate General of India in Jeddah provides full support and is in touch with the authorities and families. We also wish the injured a speedy recovery. A dedicated helpline has been set up for further queries.”.
India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also condoled the incident. He said that he had talked to the Consul General in Jeddah. The EAM also mourned through a post on the social media site X.
He further commented, “Grieved to learn of this accident and the loss of lives. Spoke with our Consul General in Jeddah, who is in touch with the concerned families. He is extending fullest support in this tragic situation.”.
