On Sunday, there was a big mishap to a passenger train, the tail end of which detached from the rest of the train due to a coupling failure on the Buxar-Patna rail section in Bihar. This head-on collision occurred at 11:08 AM on the Turiganj Raghunathpur railway section near the New Delhi Islampur Magadh Superfast Special train running between Turiganj of Buxar district to Raghunathpur railway station. Thankfully, no people were on board the train when the accident happened, and there were no casualties, as per the news.
CPRO of East Central Railway, Saraswati Chandra: Yes, there was an incident during the coupling of Magadh Express (20802) from New Delhi to Islampur, in which the train was divided into two after derailing between Turiganj and Raghunathpur stations.
She replied that the rescue team and the technical staff had reached the site, and officials were doing everything possible to fix the issue as soon as possible. An inquiry will determine the particular cause of this event.
This comes a few months after a major train accident in July when eight bogies of the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh express rolled off the tracks at the Gonda railway station in Uttar Pradesh; thirty-five passengers were injured, and three of them perished. The above train derailed soon after it had left Chandigarh, and it happened exactly at about 2:35 PM between the Motiganj and Jhilahi rail tracks.
