Trinamool Congress demands ban on CBI and NSG, alleges political manipulation

The Trinamool Congress, led by Mamata Banerjee, has argued with the Election Commission that the CBI and the National Security Guard (NSG) be banned from West Bengal state.

The Grand Alliance states that the CBI was conducting “vote day (April 26) bombarding by empty buildings in the state” with the intention of slandering of the AITC at the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

The dispute involves the credibility of evidence reportedly discovered on the spot, as it appears to be doubtful whether it was truly discovered on the spot or was planted by the CBI/NSG.

It states as well that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not notify the state government or local police stations before the raid, which were within their power to maintain the law and order duty of the state.

According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Brijesh Kumar, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted searches on KMC land allegedly transferred to Sheikh Shahjahan, a now-suspended TMC leader.

The searches were done in connection with the attack on an Enforcement Directorate (ED) team earlier in January, which was allegedly orchestrated by Sheikh Shah. Weapons, including guns, were impounded from the tradesman of Sheikh in Sandeshkhali, West Bengal, on the night of 5th August 2005.

At the same time Suvendu Adhikari BJP leader has demanded a status of terrorist organization to be given to Trinamool Congress and an arrest warrant should be issued to the chief minister, Mamata Banerjee.

He argued that the type of weapons recovered were not that (which) is indigenous to the country and (therefore) he implicated the TMC for having association with anti-national activities.

While the Election Commission is reviewing the charges, the political environment of West Bengal saturates as both parties level with increasing odds and counter demands against one another.
