Two army jawans killed in field gun mishap in Nashik

An official said it happened Thursday afternoon at the Artillery Centre on Nashik Road.

Nashik: In a tragic mishap at the Artillery Centre at Nashik, Maharashtra, police said that two Agni veers were killed due to an Indian field gun shell exploding during firing practice on Friday.

An official said the incident occurred at the Artillery Centre in the Nashik Road area on Thursday afternoon.

A group of Agniveers were firing an Indian field gun when one of the shells exploded. The duo suffered injuries and were rushed to MH Hospital, Deolali, from where they were pronounced dead, said the official.

Based on a complaint by Havildar Ajit Kumar, a case of accidental death has been registered with the Deolali Camp police, and further investigations are on, he said.
