Union Minister Nitin Gadkari taken was ill at the Maharashtra rally.
Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had to be rushed for medical aid after suddenly feeling unconscious during an election rally in Yavatmal, Maharashtra on Wednesday. Addressing a gathering in support of BJP-backed candidate Rajashree Patil, Gadkari collapsed on the stage mid-speech.
A Concerned party worker immediately caught hold of the minister and began splashing water on his face. Gadkari was promptly escorted from the venue and provided treatment. Taking to Twitter later, the minister said he felt unwell due to heat but has since recovered fully.
Gadkari thanked well-wishers for their concerns and said he is heading to the next campaign event in Varud as scheduled.
Yavatmal has been reeling under an ongoing heatwave, prompting a warning from the weather department. The intense weather is believed to have caused Gadkari’s condition.
Gadkari was canvassing during the high-decibel campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections’ second phase on April 26 in Maharashtra constituencies, including the Yavatmal-Washim seat.
His swift aid and recovery came as a relief for BJP managers amid the rally. Gadkari resumes campaign after the brief health scare in the sweltering heat.
