By the time the police got information about the kidnapping, the accused brutally thrashed Yadav and threw him on the road in the Walterganj area.
In a shocking incident, a 50-year-old advocate was allegedly kidnapped, beaten up, and then crushed to death under a vehicle in Uttar Pradesh’s Basti district. The police have arrested his estranged brother-in-law in connection with the case.
The 50-year-old advocate, Chandrashekhar Yadav, resident of Baidolia Ajaib in the police station area, had attended the ‘Thana Samadhan Diwas’ program on Saturday and was abducted when returning home on a bike by some goons who drove away in a Scorpio, PTI quoted the police.
By the time the police obtained information about the kidnapping, the accused mercilessly thrashed Yadav and hurled him onto the road in the Walterganj area, a senior police official said. The accused ran over him with their vehicle and fled.
Basti Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhinandan said the advocate’s sister and her husband, Ranjeet Yadav, were going through a divorce, and he was pleading the case. The police suspect the crime to have been committed in connection with this.
The dispute was over the financial aspect of the divorce settlement, and hence Ranjit and his brother Sandeep kidnapped the advocate and killed him, the SP told the news agency.
Ranjit Yadav is the main accused in the case, and police teams have been deployed to arrest the other accused, the officer added. Once the news was received, many activists gathered in the hospital and asked for the arrest of murderers.
