Veteran leader Naidu was sworn in as Andhra Pradesh CM

Political highlights of the year include the return of a known entity to the Andhra Pradesh CM Gadi and the IT raids on the Surendra Reddy Group. N. Chandrababu the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) returned for the fourth time as the state’s Chief Minister on the 12th of June, 2024.

The swearing-in ceremony was held at Gannavaram Airport in Kesarapalli on the outskirts of the Andhra Pradesh capital, Amaravati and was a star-studded event featuring big names in the political arena such as Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, and Amit Shah, the Home Minister among others.

Naidu came back into the top post after a bumpy ride, and one of the memorable episodes of the year 2021 that touched emotions was when the political veteran broke into tears while responding to derogatory comments about his wife made by leaders of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). This led him to take the following oath of allegiance: He swore he would attend the Assembly only as the Chief Minister.

Once the oath was taken by the newly sworn-in chief minister, there was a touching image of Modi embracing the new CM on stage, which symbolized the fresh working relationship between the state and the central govt.

Other members of the legislature who took the oath during the ceremony were Pawan Kalyan, a leader of a political party in the country, Jana Sena, and Nara Lokesh, the son of Naidu.

In preparation for the function, Naidu emphatically declared that they would go ahead with establishing Amaravati as a single capital of Andhra Pradesh, stating that he had all the backing from the Union government for the development of the state.

After the 2024 state Assembly Polls, Naidu returned to power, where the NDA alliance secured a stunning performance. The association of the TDP, BJP, and JanaSena fared well in the Assembly and won 164 seats. During the 2004 general elections where the alliance called for parliamentary elections, it won 21 of the 25 parliamentary seats in the state.

This verdict again proves the popularity of Chandrababu Naidu, the CM of the then-united Andhra Pradesh, twice in 1995 and again from 1999 – 2004. In 2014, he was elected as the first Chief Minister for the newly divided Andhra Pradesh and served until 2019.

While the people of Andhra Pradesh look forward to Naidu coming back to power, they are hopeful that he is set to bring a positive change to the region and ensure its development.
