Viral video: Man beaten for alleged mobile theft in UP

A man in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria was stripped to his underwear before being brutally thrashed with a belt for suspected mobile theft. A video of the attack has since gone viral on social media. It was first posted as an Instagram Story for close friends by a man named Priyanshu Singh.

The viral video also contains a message in Hindi. It states, “Waapas aa rahe hain apne andaaz me, log bhool gae hain hamein [We are coming back in our style; people have forgotten us].

It begins by revealing the victim, seminaked, lying face down on a couch as another man occupies his face. Another man appears as the video continues, sadistically whipping him with a belt while at the same time filming the attack on his mobile phone. When the victim attempts to lift his pants, the man sitting on him forcibly presses his hand down while the other keeps on beating him.

About the case, one individual, Rohit Srivastava, son of Ashok Lal Srivastava, a resident of Hariya Ward Number 5, Salempur, Deoria, has been arrested and is being questioned,” added Deoria Police.

They further added, “Another individual, Priyanshu Singh, son of Dhananjay Singh, resident of Dehri, Mail police station area, has been identified and is being searched for. Further legal proceedings are underway.”
