Wayanad Landslide Toll Exceeds 350, Rescue Efforts continue

The search for the Advanced Radar System stopped at 9:15 PM despite signs of distinct breathing. However, there is no clear outcome, but the state has set specific directions for the continuation of the search for more possible survivors.

Landslides that took place in the Wayanad district have killed 308 people, and 264 others have been injured. By Saturday, which marked the fifth day of the rescue operations, everyone had been trying his/her best in the cases of search and rescue.

To enable this, Indian Army personnel have placed a temporary passage to allow for the machinery to cross over. While briefing the ongoing operation, Lieutenant Colonel Vikas Rana said, “As you are aware, today is the third day of operation.

At the moment, we follow the same strategy as the day before and the day before that. We divided the area into zones, and each zone has been assigned to the particular teams. Scientists and professional sniffer dogs are helping us. Locals are also extended their help in search operations.

An advanced radar system used by the rescuers to locate the residents of the village of Mundakkai helped them ascertain this. Although the sensors picked up constant signs of breathing all through the search operation, no one was recovered, and the search was finally halted at 9:15 PM.

Concerning this signal, authorities stated that when they referred to a source of the signal, it was not entirely clear as to whether it belonged to a human individual or a domesticated animal. The government has dispatched the contingency for the continuation of attempts at the search and recovery of any other living individuals.

Commenting on the rescue operation, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said, The search to find every form of life goes on.

Even the few movements that are captured by the radars are defrosting hope. It is with a hope of finding out if there are people still alive in that destroyed building even in this darkness that rescuers go round. The forest officials had to labor for eight hours to save six persons who were stranded in the tribal sanctuary. “
