A 24-year-old woman has been arrested for sending a threatening message to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The message ominously warned that Adityanath would be murdered “like Baba Siddique” unless he resigned within ten days.
Fatima Khan, a Mumbai Police arrestee, reportedly sent the message from her mobile number. According to sources, she is well-educated and has a BSc in Information Technology. Moreover, she has reportedly been suffering from mental illnesses. She lives with her family in Thane, where her father is involved in the timber business.
This is the latest in a series of death threats that have been received by the Mumbai Traffic Police over the past few weeks, including that ominous message against Adityanath. The menace was reported through a Whatsapp helpline, forming an increasing list of similar communications worrying law enforcement officials.
In recent weeks, there have been a few threats to big-ticket celebrities, including actor Salman Khan. The threats accelerated after a shooting took place outside Khan’s residence last month. A vegetable seller from Jamshedpur and a tattoo artist from Noida have been arrested and taken into transit remand for further questioning.
This threat against Adityanath also mentioned the name of the local MLA and son of the late Baba Siddique, Zeeshan Siddique, who was shockingly murdered on October 12 near his office. That murder, which had been attributed to the infamous Lawrence Bishnoi gang, sends chills up the spine in terms of the general safety of public figures.
Zeeshan Siddique had a relationship with Salman Khan, whom the Bishnoi gang had warned on various occasions earlier when Khan was allegedly involved in a well-publicized case where he hunted several animals. After recent incidents and threats to him, security for the actor has become more severe.
