Woman doctor assaulted by drunk patient, and relatives at Mumbai hospital

A patient with a face injury and bleeding hands reached Sion Hospital in Mumbai, the accused. When he was treated in the hospital, he and his relatives called the doctor names and threatened to kill him.

A woman doctor of Mumbai’s Sion Hospital was molested on duty by an inebriated patient and his relative. The police have registered an FIR against three suspects, of which two are women, and have arrested the latter two, PTI reported.

The incident occurred at the ward in the said hospital at night at about 3.30, when the doctor was on duty. Frank and two female relatives of the patient took the patient to the hospital in the early hours of Sunday, as I was informed by the management of the hospital.

After the patient was admitted to the hospital and taking his treatment, the patient and his relatives used to misbehave and threaten the doctor of the hospital. After a heated exchange of words later in the day, the accused patient physically assaulted the doctor when he accused her of neglecting to treat his ailment as required.

In this scene, one can see the doctor removed the cotton dressing off the face of the patient to examine the injury. At this point the patient shivered with pain; he, together with his relatives, assaulted the doctor. As one fended off the other, the doctor received rather mild injuries, such as bruises.
