In a new video, Ms Mani clarifies that the authorities at the Bengaluru International Airport have contacted her and are actively assisting her with the situation.
A woman named Bhargavi Mani recently fell prey to a scam at Bengaluru International Airport while trying to access a lounge before her flight.
In a viral video, she said she was not carrying her physical credit card and produced an image of the same with herself for the lounge staff to view.
They asked her to download an application, and by way of security, they asked for a facial scan. But what happened was that these guys tried to steal her information.
She downloaded the “Lounge Pass” app but never went into the lounge; instead, she had a coffee at Starbucks. Later, she discovered she could not receive calls on her mobile and initially assumed it was a network problem.
She soon realized, however, that something was very wrong because strangers were answering her calls.
The investigation showed an amount of ₹87,000 fraudulently charged on her credit card has been transferred to a PhonePay account.
Her suspicion says that the app accessed the scammer’s access to the customer’s phone through the app, diverted calls, and also intercepted OTP for unauthorized transactions.
” I have never said that the Bengaluru International Airport or its officials have done something wrong,” she said in a video recently released.
She said the airport officials had been in touch with her and had been quite proactive in helping her out. She had since filed the incident complaint with the cybercrime department, informed her bank, and blocked the card.
