Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched a vitriolic rampage against the Samajwadi Party during state assembly discussion on the budget, blaming the party for rewarding builders like Ansal API during their tenure.
Adityanath reassured house buyers that the culprits will be brought to book from those who have cheated the common man. “Our government will search for such individuals even in hell,” he declared, promising a no-go policy for fraud.
While previous governments simply signed a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs), the chief minister explained their actual worth lay in implementation, which was lacking in the past. “Every case is under close observation,” he further mentioned, referring to a recent case that prompted him to order an FIR against Ansal Group. “Ansal was your handiwork. Under your tenure, its unlawful activities went unpunished, defrauding both investors and homebuyers.”
He compared his government’s actions with that of the Samajwadi Party, stating his government has curtailed the builders and brought them under regulation whereas the Samajwadi Party opened up their activities. “If one homebuyer is cheated, we will take over all the properties and deliver justice,” Adityanath said.
The prime minister repeated his commitment to protecting the interest of homebuyers, saying, “If anyone believes that they can harass a poor man’s money and escape, we will bring them back—even from the depths of hell—and punish them. I assure everyone will get their money back.”
This strong stand was taken in the aftermath of recent developments in the Ansal Group case in Lucknow, when the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) initiated insolvency proceedings against the firm. During a review meeting of housing and urban planning, Adityanath made it explicitly clear that cheating homebuyers will not be tolerated.
He directed officials to initiate stern action against the guilty individuals belonging to the Ansal Group and stated that FIRs must be filed in all the districts where such complaints have been filed. A committee of representatives from Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) and affected homebuyers shall also be formed to gather strong evidence for court hearings to enable stern legal action against the Ansal Group.
