International day of happiness 2024: Date, history, significance and all that you need to know

We approach 2024 with great eagerness, and we celebrate the thrill and importance of happiness all over the world by celebrating the International Day of Happiness, which will be celebrated on March 20th. The main purpose of life is to be happy. There is nothing greater than being happy. Our life would be pointless if we weren’t happy.

I did not know that this important day is the child of the United Nations, founded in 2012 to expand the spread of well-being. It has grown to be an international movement based on the full human right to hope; given the profound truth of the UN, it is an affirmation that sustainable development corresponds to growth in terms of the widening of inclusivity and the quality of life for all.

So how better to commemorate the occasion by thinking of things one is thankful for, compassion and things that lead to a smile? It might be about small things, but most often, happiness is beyond us, and the simple pleasures and relations brighten our souls day after day. It holds the key to all this, as it drives poverty reduction, human rights, and safeguarding the planet for our children and future generations.

As we enter 2024, let today ignite our passion, embracing the day as a day of purpose and reason. Talking with friends and family, engaging in an act of kindness, or treating yourself are all great ways to brighten up your mood—there are many ways to enjoy happiness. Today, this International Day, endeavour to always spread enough joy around you so the world may feel a better place.
