Janhvi Kapoor opens up about stealing hotel pillows, childhood shoplifting incident.
Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor has candidly revealed, talking about occasionally stealing hotel pillows while traveling and a shoplifting experience from childhood. In an interview with Curly Tales, as her latest “Mr and Mrs Mahi” is gaining success, the actress admitted to lifting pillows from hotels to avoid carrying one from home during flights.
She further recounted an incident in which, as a young girl shopping with her parents, Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, she picked an item from a store without paying.
“I ran out showing them proudly that we didn’t have to pay. They were shocked, calling me a thief,” Janhvi said.
According to psychiatrist Dr. Ashima Ranjan, shoplifting often arises from complex psychological factors. It can be an impulsive control disorder, prioritizing immediate pleasure over consequences due to compromised impulse regulation.
Rational thinking gets overridden, making resistance tough when chances present. The expert notes the failure to inhibit primal tendencies leading to such acts in vulnerable individuals.
While Janhvi spoke lightheartedly of childhood mistakes, experts warn normalizing theft can influence certain minds. Overall, it provides an interesting perspective on human psychology and growth.
