Mona Patel, the Indian fashion entrepreneur who made waves earlier this year with her stunning Met Gala appearance, has once again captured the spotlight. At the British Fashion Awards 2024, Patel made a striking impression in an extraordinary piece of haute couture, reaffirming her status as a formidable presence in the fashion industry.
This time, Patel wore a stunning corset from Christian Lacroix’s Spring-Summer 1996 Haute Couture collection. Acquired at auction for a whopping USD 169,828.65, approximately ₹1.43 crore, this rare piece is the epitome of fashion craftsmanship and artistry.
The off-shoulder corset is made of expensive metallic silk taffeta with thousands of hand-sewn Swarovski crystals. An elaborately detailed design features teardrop crystals cascading gracefully over the front, shoulders, and hips. Adding a touch of magic, one shoulder hosts a delicate beaded butterfly that is symbolic of the ethereal nature that characterizes Lacroix’s creations. There have only been five of these corsets in existence, and this indeed is a collector’s piece, with its exclusivity and timeless elegance.
He paired the archival corset with a floor-length satin silver skirt to further elevate the overall regal sophistication of his look. The statement diamond earrings and rings balanced it to perfection with opulence and refinement. Her beauty look was sleek-a center-parted bun, bold brows, subtle smokey eyes, and a soft pink lip. In that way, modern understated glam allowed the ensemble to take center stage.
The look first made its way to Instagram via Diet Sabya, the account known and loved for its sharp commentary on fashion. Celebrating Patel’s look, the account wrote with glee, “MISS MA’AM MONA PATEL IS BACKKKKK! What a look. This is FASHION. The most incredible museum worthy corset from the iconic 1996 Christian Lacroix Haute Couture collection, paired with a silver skirt and her signature glam at the British Fashion Awards. 10/10. No notes. Absolutely none.”
Mona Patel is at it again with her incredible ability to merge archived fashion with the sophistication of modern times, keeping her amongst the most influential individuals in the modern-day fashion world.
