Actor Raashii Khanna, who has made a mark in both Hindi and South cinema with her energetic presence, believes that the right choice of films can be a great catalyst for growth, both personally and professionally. She was last seen in The Sabarmati Report (2024). She says, “Having worked in the South for a long time, repeating the same roles in Hindi cinema no longer excites me.
With nearly a decade spent in Tamil and Telugu masala films, Khanna is now gravitating towards more content-driven projects. “While I appreciate commercial films, there comes a time when growth as an actor becomes essential, and content-rich films are the key to that evolution,” she notes.
Having debuted in 2013 with the Hindi film Madras Cafe, Khanna shifted to South cinema initially due to the lack of a compelling opportunity in the Hindi film industry. However, the success for her return to Hindi filmmaking arrived in 2022 with the psychological crime series Rudra: The Edge of Darkness, in which she played alongside Ajay Devgn.
Khanna reflected positively when asked whether her recent focus on content-centric work has affected her roles in the South. “People have expressed surprise and admiration, saying they didn’t know that this side of me existed. They have been incredibly supportive, and it hasn’t impacted my commercial opportunities. My next movie, Telusu Kada is a full-fledged commercial film,” she concludes with an overarching approach to the diverse roles.
