Shilpa Shetty shares fitness tips: Emphasizing consistency and balance

Shilpa Shetty has been living by the mantra of “Consistency and Discipline,” at least while talking to people about fitness. The other day, she gave some sage advice on how one could keep oneself fit and active. According to her, it’s all about striking a balance between yoga, Pilates, and other forms of workout. Shetty is a great believer in holistic fitness. Her latest video imparts some practical tips to make exercising less cumbersome and easier.

In her motivational message, Shetty said health is all about developing a friendly relationship with the body. “Health is a relationship between you and your body. It’s finding that sweet spot-a balance between how much you eat and how you move,” she says. Her advice encourages people to shift from dieting to nourishing the body. She now says, “Stop dieting, start nourishing,” advising one on the dangers of crash diets that get one eventually to uncontrollable cravings.

Shetty instead propagates the building of good habits rather than restricting bad ones. Another major principle she holds is mindfulness of eating, knowing what one is consuming, when, and how much. “Remember, it’s all about discipline and not motivation. Health is in your hands; don’t just wish, go work,” she said.

Her commitment to being fit shows in her regular workout sessions. She shared her “Pilates kinda day” and did a core-engaging, multi-muscle-group movement. She went on to name the benefits of such exercises when done on a regular basis: they decrease stress levels, heighten blood flow to the brain, and help one connect with one’s body. Shilpa Shetty’s route to fitness acts as a pointed reminder to maintain balance and stay committed to health goals.
