On November 8, after news broke that Taylor Swift received six Grammy nominations, the singer was spotted with friends Zoë Kravitz and comedian Jerrod Carmichael for dinner in New York City’s Meatpacking District. The three exited Chez Margaux, but Swift’s ensemble was problematic for some fashion enthusiasts.
Swift, the pop superstar, donned an obnoxious, striped blue, yellow, and red corset dress courtesy of Vivienne Westwood. Some adored the bold style; others hurried to their social media to express disappointment. Comments were not in short supply, including: “
Taylor is so pretty, but she needs a stylist,” and “The blind loyalty she has to her stylist is astounding.” One stated succinctly, “My God, that dress is dreadful,” while another questioned, “What in god’s name is that dress?”
This revival of the corset dress from Westwood’s Spring-Summer 1997 collection was alive with color. The version Swift had worn previously was subdued, but this outing featured a bright striped skirt leading up to a bright corset bodice, like a colorful art canvas with splashes of yellow and red against a blue backdrop.
Completing the look, were burgundy velvet Aquazurra Twist 95 sandals, added to which she accessorized with a black leather Vivienne Westwood Granny Frame purse. The street-style look was completed by a gold vintage necklace with a big, bold coin centerpiece and a matching bracelet.
Her hair was styled in a low bun, loose strands framing her face, while her makeup consisted of her signature red lipstick, subtle red eyeshadow, and dramatic black winged eyeliner. Swift has taken bright and colorful outfits to wear across North America during The Eras Tour. Each new fashion seems to keep the fans speculating about what could be next.
