The issues of women’s safety in the entertainment industry have come to the fore recently due to movements like #MeToo and reports like Hema Committee.

TV actors have highlighted concerns over safety on shooting sets and advocated for necessary reforms. Kavita Kaushik stated a woman’s vulnerability depends on her stature in the project. She recalled helping a guest artist facing harassment.

Veteran actor Himani Shivpuri spoke of refusing to tolerate any inappropriate behavior, however prominent the person.

Producer Ekta Kapoor emphasized the need for more women in leadership roles across fields to ensure equal agency.

Kamya Shalabh Dang opined producers must be responsible for basic amenities and security, especially during outdoor shoots and for newcomers.

She questioned the exploitation of vulnerable situations and called for tangible changes in mindsets to create respectful environments.

The ongoing discussion underlines the urgent need for systemic overhauls to better protect women involved in content creation.

Celebrities demanding safety reforms highlight it is also the onus of those in charge rather than just personal responsibility.
