Yoga Asanas for a toned waist inspired by Alaya Furniturewala

Alaya F’s Instagram perfectly fits her energetic dance sessions and rigorous workouts. Not so long ago, the actress took to her Instagram account and shared a video from her yoga session where she could be seen performing different asanas in an attempt to attain a chiselled waist. The eight asanas that Alaya performed, guided by her yoga teacher Dr. Amol, were Surya Namaskar, Bhujangasana, Trikonasana, Setu Bandhasana, Balasana, Salabhasana, Ardha Matsyendrasana, and Adho Mukha Svanasana. “Always my happiest on a yoga mat,” she captioned.

To be able to achieve such a well-toned waist, like Alaya’s, one should attempt to embed into the everyday routine the following asanas:

Paschimottanasana – Seated Forward Bend Pose
Sit with your legs extended straight out in front of you. Lengthen the spine while bending forward and reach your feet with your hands. This will help stretch the sides of the waist and engage the hamstrings while promoting mental calmness and flexibility.

Vasisthasana – Side Plank Pose
Begin with a plank position, then transfer the weight to one hand and stack the feet. Raise the opposite arm to the sky. This pose is very effective in engaging the waist and obliques, therefore strengthening the core.

Utkatasana – Chair Pose
Stand with your feet together, slightly bend your knees, and lower your hips as if you were sitting in an imaginary chair. Stretch your arms overhead while engaging your core. This posture not only strengthens the legs but also tones the waist and improves balance.

Naukasana – Boat Pose
Sit with the legs extended and together. Lean back, keeping the legs straight as you lift them off the floor. Lift your arms parallel to the ground and balance on the sit bones in a V shape. Builds the core and waist while one achieves the ability to balance, in general.

Ustrasana (Camel Pose)
Sit on your knees with hips apart and hands supporting the lower back. Lean back slowly, lift the chest, and reach for the heels. This backbend stretches and strengthens the abdominal muscles, thereby helping to tone the waist and improve posture. Many of these asanas, when included in one’s daily life, can bring manifold benefits for overall physical and mental well-being.
