Apple is set to unveil new AI features at WWDC 2024.
Apple has announced that its annual developer conference WWDC will kick off on June 10 with an online keynote and limited in-person sessions for attendees.
The company did not share many specifics but reports indicate Apple is looking to catch up to competitors Samsung and Google on AI this year. It may partner with firms like Google and Baidu to enable cloud-based generative AI capabilities.
At WWDC, Apple is expected to provide details about major software updates for its devices: iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, and tvOS 18.
At least some of these updates could introduce AI features and experiences, with iOS 18 reportedly overhauling the home screen layout. Hardware announcements are unlikely but not ruled out completely.
Last year, Apple launched its mixed reality headset, Apple Vision Pro, at WWDC. This time, new AirPods or accessories may be unveiled.
While the event focusses on software, Apple usually schedules separate launch events later in the year for new devices. Recent reports speculate imminent debuts of refreshed iPad Air and high-end iPad Pro models.
Developers can register for the virtual keynote and limited in-person sessions via the Apple Developer app and website. Apple’s student coding challenge winners will also be eligible for on-site access.
