Elon Musk outlines timeline for starship’s uncrewed mars mission in two years

Elon Musk outlines ambitious timeline for SpaceX Mars missions.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has shared details of the company’s long-term plans to establish a city on Mars through a series of posts on social media.

As per Musk, the first uncrewed Starship missions to Mars will launch in two years during the next Earth-Mars transfer window. These test missions will verify landing reliability on the Red Planet.

If successful, the billionaire entrepreneur aims to undertake the first crewed missions four years from now. However, creating a self-sustaining Mars colony requires significant technological and cost advances, he acknowledged.

Currently, the per ton cost of transporting payload to Mars is around $1 billion which needs to decline 100 times for city building as per Musk’s estimates. SpaceX taking rockets to full reusability is a step in that direction.

Over two decades, Musk envisions an exponential rise in Starship flights to eventually develop a Martian city, crucial for safeguarding human civilization according to him.

SpaceX’s website echoes the potential habitability of Mars backed by its atmosphere and gravity.

While the endeavor poses formidable challenges, analysts say Musk’s timeline highlights the company’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of space endeavors. His goals could revolutionize access to space in the coming years.
