Additionally, Striver pointed out that personal growth opportunities might be limited for some employees, as most teams work with pre-existing infrastructure rather than building new features from the ground up. “Unless you’re on a core team, the learning curve might not be as steep,” he said.
The engineer also highlighted the dynamic nature of team-switching and promotions, noting that “work done in a previous team isn’t considered for promotions after switching, leading to a dynamic where people often switch teams right after promotion.”
