Google is working on Gemini AI-powered features for Android devices

Google testing new AI features for Android

Sources have disclosed Google’s ongoing development of AI-focused additions for its key Android apps. As per reports, Gmail and the main Google app may soon see useful upgrades.

Automatic email summarization is reportedly being trialled in Gmail versions. Users may get a ‘Summarise this email’ button underneath the subject lines. Once live, it would generate a condensed version of the email’s contents for quicker context.

Gmail is also said to receive quick reply suggestions following its previous rollout in the web interface. While a premium option, these smart features could streamline routine tasks.

Separately, a Gemini AI toggle has been tipped for the Google app. A video showed the search bar replaced with a toggle to access the multipurpose digital assistant. This would offer an alternative interface for content curation and conversational searching.

Currently, the toggle is nearly ready for global deployment within weeks. It could optimize existing Search and Lens options through Gemini’s human-like interaction abilities.

Sources affirm the changes are in the initial testing phases, with inactive clickable buttons. Once stabilized, they aim to enrich experiences through AI personalization on Android. While timelines remain unclear, the integrations appear set to augment key Google services with intelligence.
