Leaked teasers provide a first look at Google Pixel 8a’s AI features.
As anticipation rises for the launch of Google’s upcoming budget smartphone – the Pixel 8a – details of its AI capabilities have emerged online ahead of schedule. Tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer collaborated with MySmartPrice to leak a promotional video showing the handset’s exclusive Pixel functions.
Best Take, which optimises group photos by replacing closed or blurred eyes, and Audio Magic Eraser, which removes unwanted sound from videos, appear prominently.
Live translation during calls and Circle to Search, which allows quick visual content lookups, were also highlighted. Images shared separately by Android Headlines affirmed these attributes, along with Call Assist and Google VPN support.
Powering the Pixel 8a is said to be the Tensor G3 chip. While security updates have reportedly been guaranteed for seven years, software upgrade plans remain unclear compared to pricier 8 series models using the same silicon.
With the official launch slated for Google I/O on May 14, the tech behemoth is likely evaluating the disclosure of further specifications and capabilities in the lead-up. As interest towards the affordable new entrant grows, such teasers have certainly piqued appetites for its official unveiling next month.
