Indian content goes global on Instagram in 2024

The most trailblazing creators in the nation were featured on Instagram this year. Indian trends went global on Instagram this year, and our desi boys and girls influenced the world. The country doubled-tapped its way to international fame this year. The platform’s Year-in-Review highlighted how India shaped the digital world this year.

Indian artists made headlines with groundbreaking collaborations. Diljit Dosanjh teamed up with US rapper Saweetie to create the song Khutti. King joined Nick Jonas for Maan Meri Jaan. Harsh Likhari partnered with Canadian artist Connor Price for Customs. These partnerships blended genres and bridged borders.

Makeup trends and nostalgia for the Bollywood era made up its global presence. The makeup trend has become a rage in Asoka, Indonesia, Nigeria, and Slovakia. The makers lip-sync dialogues in Bollywood classics of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in Japan. Westerners like Drew Hicks and Agu Stanley also created some attraction by making the content in Indian languages.

Indian regional music dominated Instagram’s reels. Tracks like the Haryanvi song Jale 2 and the Punjabi hit Ve Haaniyaan inspired 9.7 million and 3.9 million reels, respectively. Marathi, Tamil, and Bhojpuri songs also created waves, with Gulabi Sadi, Aasa Kooda, and Bandookk becoming favorites. Global hits like Big Dawgs and Taambdi Chaambdi also fueled Instagram trends.

Instagram also featured pioneering influencers that captured the attention of the nation. Rapper Hanumankind, eco-warrior Nancy Tyagi, tea artist Dolly Chaiwala, and viral Vada Pao Girl became icons of 2024. Their talent and personality reflected the thoughts and feelings of people in each corner of the country.

It revealed how Indian creativity left an impact worldwide. It further highlighted the platform’s importance in promoting everything from makeup trends to music and artistry. And with a year like that behind it, all eyes are now on what 2025 will bring.
