Indian Govt warns of critical security flaw in Microsoft Edge

This is worrisome, coming from the Indian government, which recently released a notice that the Microsoft Edge web browser has a major security risk. Received through the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), it requires users to act fast.

The security agency has pointed out several security vulnerabilities in Microsoft Edge, which is based on the same browser engine as Google Chrome. These flaws can be further exploited to permit remote code execution, denial of service, and security controls on the target device; this, in turn, opens up the device’s user data to the attacker.

CERT-In’s Security Bulletin: The Facts About
The bulletin, which was then issued by CERT-In, also details the vulnerabilities and gives security notice. These vulnerabilities are present in Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) through use after free in Dawn and Swiftshader, as an attacker engages a victim into visiting a specially crafted webpage.

The security alert also reveals a vulnerable version of the Microsoft Edge browser. The advisory says that the Edge stable version up to 126. 0. 2592. 81 is at risk. We recommend users upgrade their browsers to the latest release to resolve the matter.

Recommended Action for Users
However, the processing for all the above-mentioned vulnerabilities is already over, and Microsoft has released a security update for them. For this reason, users are encouraged to apply the latest updates to their Microsoft Edge browser on all their devices.

At the same time, cybersecurity specialists advised users not to open letters or attachments from unfamiliar people since these tricks can attract these vulnerabilities.

The Indian government’s not-flagging security alert shows that one must be aware and ensure that one’s software is updated to counter these new anthologies.

Thus, it is critical to note that such proactive actions by authorities are essential, given the progressive development of the digital space, to ensure citizens’ security when using the Internet.
