OpenAI Trials ChatGPT-Powered search engine to Rival Google

The SearchGPT feature of the San Francisco-based OpenAI said Thursday that they are going to release a preview of this feature to get feedback from a limited set of users and publishers.

Currently, OpenAI is piloting a search engine based on ChatGPT that may put the artificial intelligence specialist in front of the web traffic currently dedicated to Google, affecting the continuity and the stating point of timely information as news.

The California-based OpenAI said on Thursday that it will roll out the first preview of the search capability SearchGPT to a limited number of users and publishers.

Google shocked its users in May by incorporating written summaries created by AI placed right at the top of the search results. The summaries are designed to provide as quickly as possible to a user what they were looking for to prevent their need to hunt for a link and go to another website for more information.

Google’s revamp was conducted following the trial for a year with small users, but it was full of mistakes to demonstrate the dangers of surrendering the search for information to AI chatbots.

The principal business collaborator of OpenAI, Microsoft, is also experimenting with AI summaries in its Bing search engine.
