PS5 Pro Rumors: Enhanced GPU, AI, and More Upgrades

Sony is working on a more powerful PS5 Pro, reports suggest

According to speculation, gaming giant Sony may launch an upgraded PlayStation 5 console codenamed ‘PS5 Pro’ later this year. Sources suggest it will feature considerable enhancements over the base PS5 model.

Insider Gaming reports that the PS5 Pro will boast a 28% faster memory bandwidth of 576GB/s compared to 448GB/s. Its GPU is rumoured to offer 45% faster rendering and ray tracing capabilities up to 4 times more powerful.

Other notable upgrades include a 10% higher maximum CPU clock speed of 3.85GHz and 35% improved audio processing. Storage may be increased to 1TB with options for a detachable disc drive.

Separate leaks from Sony’s developer portal indicate the Pro model could achieve render speeds twice as fast as PS5 and 2-3 times stronger ray tracing performance. Its GPU teraflops may hit 33.5, over three times the base PS5’s 10.28 teraflops.

While Sony is yet to confirm plans, such reports point to the Japanese tech giant working on a more premium PlayStation experience. If launched, the PS5 Pro would represent Sony’s strategy to cater to console gamers with varying budget and performance preferences. Its potential unveil later in 2023 will be keenly watched.
